Filming In A Non Controllable Environment

We walked around Bath to look at different filming locations for our Political video, We did this so that we would learn how to film in a crowed location and in a environment which we are unable to control and learn how to work around stuff such as people, animals & other objects which might get in the way. We went to the Royal Crescent in Bath to look at a big open space then we went down an alleyway to look at how we would film in a location like this.


Its important to think about when you are filming and where, if its early your unlikely to have people in the way as you are filming, going to the location you intend to film is also important, knowing what your going to film and how your going to film that (Example: What direction, what angle, etc.) When we went down the alley we learnt that not many people where there, so it was simple to film without interruptions. Its also very important to know what the weather will be, it did start to slowly rain when we where out and its important you know what the weather will be like and also if you want to film in the rain then try and plan a get together to film on a day that it is raining.


Filming around strangers into background is also important, you don't want them staring at the camera or getting in the way, also you don't want any continuity errors, If someone in the background is walking towards one location, then the camera cuts and that person is gone or walking in a different direction then that will make the film not seem real. The same thing applies with animals that might be around the area and might get in the way.


We thought about how we were going to film certain takes for our Political video, everyone has different plans for the short film, some are planning on having Alien spaceships crash and emerge from out of a bush, others just want a normal debate between 2 or 3 parties, others have plans for a murder mystery type of adventure involving one of the political leaders being assassinated.
