Target Demographic

My target demographic is 17-24, the reason I chose 17 is because you are at the age where you start doing more. You can learn to drive, When you're 18 you can vote 19 and 20 year olds will mainly be at University or still in education. I think it would be good to start at 17 and not at 16 because at 16 you still feel young and you're still in school and not in higher education like College or Sixth Form. I know that “39.6% of young people aged between 18-24 enrolled for 2 or 4 year course in October 2008” this shows that even at 24 people are still in education.

I’d like to look at many different things. One beginning acting because I enjoy a lot and I know a lot of young people who feel the same way and would probably more likely to read about it than an old generation, Young adults probably would read about it as well but more likely young people because Media and Theatre is all around these days, tv programs and movies which a lot of young people really enjoy. I know this because a lot of people share stuff on Facebook and Twitter related to film. I’d like to use social media to help get my message across. I can also use this to promote the Bath Chronicle Facebook and Twitter page. I know that 39% of white teenager go online several times a day, 33% of black teenagers do & 26% of hispanic teenagers do.

People between 17-24 will more likely have a job compared to 19-24, the reason beginning people between 21-22 will probably be at University and won’t have time for a job. especially in the last year of uni meaning they might not have the money to buy a newspaper or might not have time. Like I said early 39.6 of young people between 18-24 are still in education whether it's College or University. These people will probably have loads to do unless there on a gap year but they could still have a job and stuff to get done. They might not have time to read a newspaper but compared to a generation between 20-30, younger people have more time to spend then they’ll ever have again so they are more likely to have the time to read a newspaper.

One of the biggest interests young people have is watching films and tv shows. Lots of them watch films will friends and girl/boyfriends. Its a nice thing loads of people do. There are lots of shows on tv that young people enjoy. More shows for girls than boys. Programs like ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ are shows lots of young girls like but programs like ‘Top Gear’ are more likely to be watched by young boys. These are just a few examples of tv shows young people watch. I know this because these 4 shows often come up on facebook shared and posted by friends of mine.

Steve's Animation Project

This is the final version of my short advert to stop people using phones in class by explaining the rules to them, what you can and cannot do.
This took me a week to come up with an idea and a few weeks editing and perfecting

Mark's Critical Evaluation Blog Post

CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Why do we use research methods?
So that we can find information easily, also so that we can repeat the same thing instead of doing something wrong like a different method, all the attempt are with the same methods. Primary and Secondary research worked well with me to Audience and Marketing I got a little stuck on and didn't focus as much on, I now feel strong enough to use Primary & Secondary research in my free time and from future projects.

How do they influence our decisions throughout a project?
They can help with finding out already existing research and help us use quotes and back up someone elses work or someone elses answers. It has also helped me to research in future projects and future task, I now know how to research in different ways.

Compare the research methods you have used in the Election Connection Brief (Primary, Secondary, Audience, Market - what has worked/what hasn’t...?)
The research I did in my Election Connections Brief worked really well, nothing didn’t work, I found out that some young people are interested in politics but when I research through books it said they aren’t but it does affect them a lot, so overall they kind of contradict the other but not by much, the research I did in my local area and the survey I did online were very good and came out with the same answers.

Why have you used the certain research methods you have used for the Election Connection brief? (If you looked at other campaigns/magazines how did they influence your ideas and why?)
I used them because they seemed to work with what I was trying to find out, I made a survey online for young people to answer because a lot of young people, are online and if they come across this survey, they are more likely to answer it then older people. Also asking people in my local area was good because I live very close to a school, meaning a lot of young people live near by and I could ask them. Like I said early Primary and Secondary research is probably the best two I used and I could use in future tasks, but a few of the other methods where a little hard.

What skills have you developed through this research?
How to talk better in public and ask strangers questions without worrying, also I have learn’t how to research online and offline, using books and making surveys is also a good thing to do that I have learn’t. I have also learn’t how to use Primary & Secondary research even more, I feel confident enough to do it myself without any help and could probably start using it outside of college and in future tasks.

Now what? How might you develop your research techniques/develop ideas in the future?
I will try and do more Audience and Marketing research in future tasks, they are probably the two things I did very little on and should have included more in my task.

Has your product achieved what it was set out to achieve? How will/have you tested this?
It has done good but not as good as I planned, like I said i didn’t do much Audience and Marketing research which I originally planned to do, so overall that is something i did not achieve which I wish I had, I know this from my research and from my original plan.

My website has quite a dark background which is similar to the picture on the left, it has big sub headers and images, it also has a tool bar but unlike the one on the left, mine is at the top instead of the side.

My Work Today (How I Feel)

Today we started are work on the Bath Chronicle. I sadly didn't arrive in college till gone 11am, I missed first lesson which set me back a little, I later tried to catch up in my lunch break with Rob. We looked through the brief to find out what i missed but never really got round to filling out the Analysis of the requirements. Later on in Ed's lesson, everyone continued their work on the Analysis of requirements. Sadly I had not started that because I was not in first lesson, I started it there and then in Ed's Lesson. I haven't finished the Analysis of requirements yet. Hopefully I'll finish it tomorrow in James and Ed's lesson. Overall today has been a good day, Its a shame I wasn't around in first lesson but sadly I had a family emergency the night before and was in A&E till gone 2am, which meant I didn't get much sleep the night before.
