My target demographic is 17-24, the reason I chose 17 is because you are at the age where you start doing more. You can learn to drive, When you're 18 you can vote 19 and 20 year olds will mainly be at University or still in education. I think it would be good to start at 17 and not at 16 because at 16 you still feel young and you're still in school and not in higher education like College or Sixth Form. I know that “39.6% of young people aged between 18-24 enrolled for 2 or 4 year course in October 2008” this shows that even at 24 people are still in education.
People between 17-24 will more likely have a job compared to 19-24, the reason beginning people between 21-22 will probably be at University and won’t have time for a job. especially in the last year of uni meaning they might not have the money to buy a newspaper or might not have time. Like I said early 39.6 of young people between 18-24 are still in education whether it's College or University. These people will probably have loads to do unless there on a gap year but they could still have a job and stuff to get done. They might not have time to read a newspaper but compared to a generation between 20-30, younger people have more time to spend then they’ll ever have again so they are more likely to have the time to read a newspaper.
One of the biggest interests young people have is watching films and tv shows. Lots of them watch films will friends and girl/boyfriends. Its a nice thing loads of people do. There are lots of shows on tv that young people enjoy. More shows for girls than boys. Programs like ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ are shows lots of young girls like but programs like ‘Top Gear’ are more likely to be watched by young boys. These are just a few examples of tv shows young people watch. I know this because these 4 shows often come up on facebook shared and posted by friends of mine.
